Like their Christian counterparts, the League of Imams and Alfas in Ibadan South East Local Government area have equally declared their support for the re-election of PDP chairmanship candidate, Honorable Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode, his vice, Hon.Teslim Ogundeji and all the 12 councillorship candidates in the said council area in the forthcoming local government election slated for 27th April, 2024.
The council of Imams and Alfas made their position known during a visit paid to them by the campaign committee of Alawode/Ogundeji re-election at the central mosque, Oja Oba, Ibadan yesterday.
Speaking through their Chairman, Alhaji Adam Adewusi who is the Chief Imam of Ita Agbaakin lauded the Oyo State governor, Engr Seyi Makinde for prioritizing infrastructural developments in the State.
He described the Governor as a humane and compassionate leader whose administration is far different from the previous ones in the State.
While promising to mobilize the electorates and sensitize them on the need to allow the PDP government to continue at the local government for effective and more developments at the grassroot levels in their different mosques, the clerics used the opportunity to make request for consideration of vehicle, Hajj slot, educational support for Muslim children and more provision of health equipment in various health centers within the said council area.
Speaking earlier, the Director-General of the campaign team, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige said the purpose of the visit was to seek the support and blessings of the muslim clerics most especially in the holy month of Ramadan and offer prayers for all the candidates as the election day draws nearer.
He expressed profound gratitude to the Imams for the opportunity to engage with all the spiritual leaders and used the opportunity to acknowledge the invaluable support they have been given to Governor Seyi Makinde in advancing the developmental agenda in the State.
He urged the muslim leaders to mobilize massively for all the PDP candidates in order to ensure the continuity of ongoing infrastructure projects that are aimed at transforming the entire communities at the grassroot across the state,
In his remark, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode appreciated the council for their unwavering support and prayers, assuring them of his continuous support and smooth relationship with the entire body of Muslim in Ibadan South East Local Government.
He promised that his administration will continue to be fair and open and give equal government opportunity to all religious bodies in his second term administration.
Prominent among the PDP chieftain and campaign committee members present at the visit were Hon. Teslim Ogundeji, Hon. Sunday Babatunde Ibadan South East PDP Chairman, Engr. Sulaimon Adesina,Hon. Kunmi Adesina, Alhaji Tiamiyu Abidikugu, Alhaji Dauda Yusuf, all the 12 councillorship candidates respectively.
