Leaders and stakeholders of the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), met on Friday and approved the harmonised list of the state executives of the party.
The meeting, which was held at the Awosika residence of former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, was attended by zonal leaders and members of Oyo APC Elders’ Advisory Council.
The Chairman of Oyo APC State Congress Appeal Panel Chairman, Chief (Dr.) Samuel Ogbuku, was also in attendance to authenticate the reconciled list of new state executives of the party as directed by the APC CECPC.
The meeting resolved among others that the October 30, 2021 state congress of the party followed the zoning template approved on Monday October 11, 2021 by the leaders of the party, and all tendencies were carried along in the composition of the new state executive members according to the adopted zoning template of the party.
Former Speaker of the state House of Assembly and current Minority Leader, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape, moved the motion for the adoption of the resolution and was seconded by the overall leader of the party in Oke-Ogun Zone, Pa Samuel Adekola.
The Chairman, of Oyo State APC Appeal Committee, Dr. Ogbuku, said he came to authentic the reconciled list of the new state executives of the party as directed by APC CECPC.
According to him, “The National Caretaker Chairman of our great party, Governor Mai-Mala Buni gave a clear mandate to the State Congress Appeal Panel to attend harmonization meeting convened by the constitutionally recognised leader of the party in the state who is former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala. I came straight to his Bodija, Ibadan, residence where the harmonization meeting is holding”
“I want to state categorically that Oyo APC State Congress Appeal Panel has no power to change the list of new state executives of the party who emerged through the State Congress of October 30th, 2021 held at Liberty Stadium Ibadan. However, my committee has noted all the complaints by some party members. We will submit our report to the National Secretariat of the party.”
Also present at the meeting include former deputy governor of Oyo State, Barrister Iyiola Oladokun, Pa Elegbede Sunday and members of Oyp APC Elders’ Advisory Council, among many other leaders of the party.
