Gernot Rohr lands Ghana Black Stars coaching job

The former coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr is set to take over the Black Stars of Ghana, Rulers World report.

Rohr was fired by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), on Saturday, 11th December, 2021despite qualifying Nigeria for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament slated to hold in Cameroon next year. The NFF has cited a string of unimpressive performances by the Super Eagles as one of the reasons.

Meanwhile, Ghana, on their part, sacked Coach Milovan Rajevac following the Black Stars’ disastrous showing at the ongoing AFCON

It came barely a week after Ghana suffered a humiliating group-stage exit at the AFCON after the four-time champions were beaten 3-2 by debutants Comoros.

At an emergency meeting between the Sports Ministry and the Ghana FA, the stakeholders reviewed the Stars’ performance at the AFCON 2021 and discussed preparations for the 2022 World Cup playoffs.

Informed sources confirmed to the magazine that Mr Rohr has been holding talks with GFA and the contract signing is awaiting approval from the country’s sports ministry.
