The Ingratitude, Treachery And Arrogance of Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin

In the annals of political ingratitude, treachery and arrogance, Hon Agboworin’s name shall forever stand as a testament to the depths of human callousness, arrogance and betrayal. His ascent to the seat of the House of Representatives in the National Assembly, purportedly fueled by the benevolence of benefactors in Ibadan South East local government, of which Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, Hon Dare Adeleke, Hon Emmanuel Alawode and hosts of other leaders reeks not of gratitude from him ,but of sheer contempt and indignation for the very hands that elevated him.

In the grand finale of the Campaign in his Federal Constituency on Thursday, Agboworin who failed to participate in the logistics of organising the event came late, and towards the time when the programme was midway to the end with a crowd of his supporters who started booing the flag bearer of the Party , Hon Emmanuel Alawode who contributed greatly and supported Agboworin during his own election in 2023. This did not go down well with stakeholders of the Party who were present.

Firstly, let us dissect the treacherous path trodden by this ingrate. He was ushered into the political arena on the wings of unwavering support from the above benefactors, who cleared the path for his ascension by ensuring that potential aspirants such as Dr. Kazeem Olasupo Abidikugu, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige., Hon. Deji Aboderin., Hon. Ibrahim Adeboye (Omo iya eleja).Hon. Aminu., Hon. Barr. Aborisade and Dr. (Mrs) Akinsete all bowed out gracefully. Yet, what did Agboworin offer in return for such unalloyed loyalty and patronage? A display of flagrant disregard by spurning the candidacy of Hon. Emmanuel Alawode, the local government flag bearer, in the election of Ibadan South East local government, and flagrant display of monumentally unruly behaviour and grand disrespect to the person of the Deputy National Chairman (South) of our Party, Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja.

The consequences of Agboworin’s hubris are glaringly evident in the electoral results, where the influence of his supporters wanes, revealing the chasm of betrayal he has sown within his own constituency. The wards where his purported strength lies now stand as monuments to his betrayal, as the once loyal supporters recoil in dismay at his treachery.

Furthermore, Agboworin’s abysmal contribution of a paltry sum of N500,000 towards the election campaign of the Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Emmanuel Alawode, despite his purported financial buoyancy, is a slap in the face to the very democracy he claims to represent. While his counterparts in Ibadan South West and Ibarapa East Local Governments demonstrated commendable financial commitment, with contributions of ten million naira (N10,000,000 ) and five million naira (N5,000,000) respectively, Agboworin’s miserly offering stands as a testament to his moral bankruptcy and disdain for the democratic process.

Moreover, Agboworin’s academic and moral deficiencies serve as damning indictments of his suitability for public office. His questionable academic qualifications cast a shadow of doubt over his intellectual capacity to legislate effectively on behalf of his constituents. Furthermore, his moral compass, or lack thereof, paints a picture of a man devoid of integrity and guided solely by self-interest.

In conclusion, Hon Agboworin’s conduct epitomizes the worst facets of political betrayal and arrogance. His ingratitude towards his benefactors, betrayal of party loyalty, and moral bankruptcy render him unfit to hold the esteemed position of a lawmaker. It is incumbent upon the electorate to cast aside such nefarious characters and reclaim the integrity of their democratic institutions from the clutches of self-serving opportunists like Hon Agboworin.
