Olubadan’s Exit, a Great Loss to Us – Ademola Ige

The death of the late Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Mahood Lekan Balogun (Alli Okumade ll) has been described as a great loss to the entire yoruba race and Nigeria as a whole.

The Baameto Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige made this assertion while sympathizing with the government and people of Ibadan land over the demise of the first class monarch which occured last Thursday night.

Ige who stressed in a statement he personally signed and made available to journalists in Ibadan that the incident was painful, noted that the late monarch was an epitome of courage, patriotic and upright leader who gave his very best for the advancement of Ibadan land, Oyo State and Nigeria as a politician and traditional ruler.

According to him, “the late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Mahood Lekan Balogun was a highly respected first class monarch who committed to the growth and development of his domain and Nigeria as he used his influence to foster peace and harmony and attract development within and outside his domain.

“He was a courageous man who protected the dignity of the Olubadan stool and ensured that the traditional institution of the country was well respected and honoured. He was very plain, truthful, peace loving and served humanity till he breathed his last.” He said.

While commiserating with the Oyo State government led by Engr Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan in Council, the children and the entire family that the departed monarch left behind, Hon. Akeem Ige who is the immediate past Special Adviser to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, enjoined them to take solace in the fact that the late monarch lived a fulfilled life and left legacies of a good name and honour behind.

He prayed God to repose the soul of the departed monarch and comfort the family and entire people of Ibadan land.
