The Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige has once again been honoured with an award of Excellence by the youth of Yerokun Ajegunle community in the Ibadan South East Local Government area.
The award ceremony held on Saturday 31st December, 2022 as part of the activities marking the 11th anniversary of the forum, was presented to Hon. Ige in recognition of his sterling and exemplary leadership style as a grassroot politician who has never disconnected himself from the community and always ensure that the people feel the impact of government and improve their standard of living.
While presenting the award to Hon. Ige on behalf of the youth group, the Chairman of Yerokun Ajegunle resident association, Alhaji Kasali Oyelude charged the people in position of authority especially those that are currently soliciting the votes from the electorates to inculcate the habit of not disconnecting themselves from the grassroots like Hon. Ige who always like to identify with the grassroots.
He hinted that going by the achievements of Hon. Ige as a politician, it is on record that he did many wonderful things while serving as a council chairman, as state lawmaker and even now that he is serving as an Adviser to the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, adding that this is an uncommon trait among the political class.
While corroborating the submission of Alhaji Oyelude in his earlier speech, the President of the forum, Aare Kola Arowolo said the forum found hon. Ige worthy of receiving the award because of his past and continuous support for the youth in particular and the Yerokun community as a whole, adding that the forum will continue to appreciate him whether in or out of political office.
In his remark, Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige pointed out though this is not the first, second or third time that he would be honoured with similar award by the Yerokun community, he will always identify with any course that will bring development to the people in his immediate environment or Oyo State as a whole.
While appreciating the community leaders and the youth for the honour, Hon. Ige, however, charged them to make him more happier by coming out enmasse to cast their votes for all the PDP candidates in the upcoming 2023 February and March, 2023 general elections especially Engr Seyi Makinde as Governor, Mogaji Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Senator for the Oyo South Senatorial district, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin for Ibadan North East/South East Federal constituency, Yinka Omikunle for Ibadan South East Constituency II and other PDP candidates.
Hon. Ige thereafter, dedicated the said award to his Principal, Governor Seyi Makinde for his giant strides in the State.
