The Baale of Ekotedo, Elder (DR) Taiye Ayorinde alongside other principal officers of the church had on Sunday January 15, 2023 received awards of honour at the 125th Patronal anniversary held at Christ Church Mapo, Ibadan.
The Christ Church Mapo, Ibadan South Diocese- Anglican Communion had presented the award of honour as Great Grand Father of the year to Elder Ayorinde in recognition of his leadership role in the growth and development of the church.
Elder Ayorinde alongside other awardees had individually acknowledged the awards, commending the church management/authority for her great feat in the Christian circle.
Elder (DR) Taiye Ayorinde was born into the family of High Chief John Adeyemi Ayorinde on the 29th of March, 1935. He was the first and only boy of his mother. He attended Oranyan Baale’s School and later Mapo Day School with Late Tunde Laosun and chief Aremu of blessed memory. He also school in Onso under the tutelage of Bishop Akinyele. He was later handed over to Archdeacon Alayande. He attended Ibadan Grammar School in 1951. He started his career at Ministry of Agric as Confidential Librarian with Lt. Gen. Alani Akinriade. He left the Ministry of Agriculture for Cooperative Bank under Chief Onagorowa. After a spell as Accounts Clerk at the Bank.
He left for Britain in search of the Golden fleece. He created the Nigerian theatre group and attended Victor Gover Overseas College of Films and Television in London in 1961. Attended North West Polytechnic College for Business in 1963 and Regent Polytechnic College now London University to study journalism and Public Relations.
Elder Taiye Ayorinde had worked in different capacities and different organizations both public and private. Among whom are British Government Central Office of Information, Nigerian Television Authority, FESTAC 77. Chairman Polio Mellitus inoculation programme for children in Nigeria, Chairman, Commodity Monitoring and Pricing Committee of Oyo State. Chairman Association of Baale in Ibadan. Chairman of All Traditional Baales In Yoruba land , chairman, Yoruba World Assembly, Former Chairman and Director of Geo- focus Co Ltd. A project consultant that initiated the Ibadan Circular Road.
Elder (DR)Taiye Ayorinde MBKTS MIFJ MBIPR GP JP had received various award that are too numerous to mention. He is a self sacrificing as candle. He takes other people’s problems as his headache and tackles them head long. He enjoys tough challenges. His favourite song is “Amazing Grace” . He is blessed with children, Grand children and Great Grand children.
In his remark, Baale of Ekotedo, Elder ( DR)Taiye Ayorinde said, “Christ Church Mapo, Ibadan is a family church where they foresaw that Makinde will become governor of Oyo State. Today again, it’s been said that Makinde should be allowed for second term. He concluded.
In his statement, Ashiwaju Balogun, Baale of Ekotedo, Ibadan, Chief Taofiki Dada, thanked the Almighty God for the opportunity to witness the day,. “It is God’s doing and it’s marvellous in our sights. It’s a call to serve, to whom much is given, much is expected” he said.
