Former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao Akala is dead.
He was said to have died in the early hours of this morning.
Immediately the news of his death was announced, the whole of Ibadan and Oyo State was thrown into mourning as the news of his death has become a major subject of discussion within the government secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan this morning.
Akala was the governor of Oyo State between 2007 to 2011. He was also a former chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area between 1999 and 2002. He served as Deputy Governor to Former Governor Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja between 2003 and May, 200.
He died in his ogbomoso residence and currently at Baptist seminary mortuary on Ogbomoso

Meanwhile, fresh facts have continued to emerge on the last moment of the late former governor who died this morning at his Ogbomoso residence.
When Rulers’ World visited his Ibadan residence located at Bodija Estate, Osuntokun, Ibadan, some sympathisers were already besieging the place to confirm the veracity of the news of his death.
It was gathered that the late politician returned from Abuja yesterday hale and hearty. He was said to have watched the Nigeria – Egypt match played at 5 pm before he went to bed with a plan to travel to Ibadan this morning.
He woke up in the morning, and as part of his daily routines, he took a walk around his yard and relaxed on a sofa, only to be seen dead on his seat, said a source.
Rulers’ World also exclusively gathered that his family had concluded arrangements to hold a special 70th birthday celebration for his first wife, who is the mother to Olamijuwonlo, former chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area this coming Saturday, 15th January 2022 before his death occurred this morning.
The said wife, it was gathered, is a Pastor in one of the branches of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
