Abridged Nigeria Women Football League Premiership kicks off December

The 2021/2022 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership will kick off in December 2021 across the nation in an abridged league format, the organisers have revealed.

The date and format of the Nigeria Women apex football league were announced during the Women Football League Annual General Meeting (WFLAGM) in Lagos.

The 2021/2022 premiership season will be played in an abridged format with seven clubs each in a group where three teams from each zone will qualify for the NWFL Premiership Super Six.

In group A, Pelican Stars, Naija Ratels, Nasarawa Amazons, Edo Queens, Osun Babes, Adamawa Queens and Confluence Queens will all face off against each other in a home-and-away format.

For group B, the likes of Abia Angels, Bayelsa Queens, Delta Queens, Rivers Angels, Robo FC, Royal Queens, Sunshine Queens will all do battles against each other in like fashion as group A.

The season, which will be rounded of the f by Super Six competition, to be hosted by any interested club from the NWFL clubs, will start in December and end in May 2022, to adjust to the WAFU B Qualifiers.

The Northern zone clubs include Nasarawa Amazons, Confluence Queens, Naija Ratels, Adamawa Queens; their Southern counterparts are Pelican Stars, Osun Babes, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Royal Queens, FC Robo, Delta Queens, Sunshine Queens, Abia Angels, and Bayelsa Queens.

Adamawa vs Edo Queens.

Group B.
Royal Queens Bye
FC Robo v. Abia
Delta Queens v Rivers
Sunshine v. Bayelsa.

Rivers Angels emerged champions of the 2021 season which was decided via Super 6 playoffs in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state, earlier in the year.

The Congress was attended by NWFL clubs officials and selected players, First Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Seyi Akinwumi; Chairman of Chairmen, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau and other football stakeholders in Nigeria.
