Two middle-aged men Imran Nurudeen ‘M’ 25years and Imran Abdulrauf ‘M’ 35years were today, 16th of November 2021 arraigned before an Iyagunkun Magistrate Court sitting in Ibadan, for allegedly damaging twenty hectares of industrial sugar cane plantation property of Oyo State FMCU Limited worth Twenty Million Naira (N20,000,000:00) only.
The accused were alleged to have conspired with others (now at large) to have on the 20th of October 2021, at about 10 am at Aba Ogo area Iseyin, in the Iseyin Magisterial District triable in the Ibadan Magisterial district damaged the said sugar cane plantation
They were slammed with two-count charges ranging from conspiracy with one another to commit felony to wit malicious damage which is an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol.11, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.
The charge sheet read thus:
Count 1: That you Imran Nurudeen ‘M’, Imran Abdulrauf and others at large, on the 20th day of October 2021, at about 10 am, at Aba-Ago area, Iseyin, in the Iseyin Magisterial District triable in the Ibadan Magisterial District did conspire with one another to commit felony to wit: malicious damage and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol.11, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
Count 11: That you Imran Nurudeen ‘M’, Imran Abdulrauf and others at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did willfully and unlawfully damage twenty Hectares of Industrial sugarcane plantation valued Twenty Million Naira (N20,000,000:00) only property of Oyo State sugarcane FMCU Limited represented by Olusola Adepoju ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol.11, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.
The complainant representing Oyo State FMCU Limited, Mr Olusola Adepoju was presented in court as a prosecution witness in the case.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Olaide Hamzat admitted them to bail in the sum of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000.00) only each and one surety each in like sum. The surety must be a landed property owner within the court jurisdiction.
The prosecutor, ASP Adebusuyi disclosed that the first person to be arrested on the case was Ashiru Isiaka who was arraigned before the court on 11th of November 2021 and was also granted bail for Two Million Naira (N2,000,000.00) with two sureties in like sum. The surety, the court directed on that occasion, must have landed property within the court jurisdiction. ASP Adebusuyi said this was before Imran Nurudeen and Imran Abdulrauf were arrested. He pleaded with the court for consolidation of the two charges so that the three of them can appear in court together on one charge.
The case was, however, adjourned till 11th January 2022 for consolidation of the charge.
