Hon. Lafi Empowers Constituents With #30M, 1700 Rice Palliatives

 

A Federal lawmaker representing Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency, Oyo State, Hon. Olafisoye Akinmoyede Wasiu yesterday distributed 1700 bags of rice and thirty million naira cash to nothing less than 2000 people of his constituents in his empowerment programme.

The gesture according to Hon. Olafisoye popularly known as Lafi, is to reduce hunger and starvation, as well as to improve the lives of his people economically within his constituency.

At the 3 in 1 empowerment programme held at Faith Joe Civic Center, along Akobo Oju Irin, Alegongo, Ibadan, 1,700 people got a bag of rice each, #100,000 each for 300 small scale traders to augment their businesses while 200,000 notebooks were given to students in both primary and secondary school students to beneficiaries that were drawn across all the wards in Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency.

Hon. Lafi stressed that the rice Palliative was distributed in conjunction with the federal government through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removed by the federal government last year.

Hon. Olafisoye who assured the people of his constituency of his commitment to give them quality and effective representation that will transform their lives positively, however, appealed to those that did not benefit from yesterday’s programme to exercise patience as he will ensure that they also benefit from the subsequent ones.

In his remarks, the chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, Barr. Issac Ajiboye Omodewu who was represented by the party’s Oyo Central senatorial Chairman, Hon. Joshua Oyebamiji described the lawmaker’s initiative as peculiar one considering the number of beneficiaries that benefitted in his good gesture.

Some of the beneficiaries who expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the gesture, stressed that it is very rare for a first timer lawmaker to do this kind of empowerment programme for the people.

Dignitaries at the event include Sen. Yunus Akintunde who was represented by Mr Biodun Adeyemo, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Hon. Yemi Aderibigbe, Hon. Kehinde Subair, Hon. Akin Alli, Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete, hon. Murphy Adigun, hon. Bolaji Badmus, Directors from the federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, royal fathers and baales from both Akinyele and Lagelu local governments, APC chairmen and other executives from the said constituency, representatives of Christian association of Nigeria (CAN) and Islamic clerics and others.
