Gunmen Open Fire On President Buhari’s Convoy In Katsina, Injure Two

Daredevil gunmen, Tuesday, opened fire on President Muhammadu Buhari’s advance convoy deployed ahead of his trip to his home town in Daura, Katsina State for Sallah celebrations.

No fewer than two persons were reported to have sustained a varying degree of injuries in the said attack

The shooting incident near Dutsinma in Katsina State was targeted at the convoy of cars carrying the advanced team of security guards, protocol and media officers attached to the office.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed the incident, describing the gunmen’s actions as sad and unwelcome.

According to him, “The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.

“Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered. All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura”.
