Ganduje, Others Honour Oba Yoruba As He Bags Award in Ibadan

The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Umar Abdulahi Ganduje, led eminent personalities that were present at the award ceremony bestowed on the Oba of Yoruba in Kano State, Alhaji (Engr) Murtala Alimi Otisese by the Community Development Council (CDC) Ibadan East Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

The award ceremony which was held at the main hall of Ibadan North East Local Government 13th October, 2021 also had in attendance the Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora, Hon. Bolanle Sarumi Aliyu, the Asiwaju Adinni of Oyo State, Alhaji Mutiu Oladejo Onimalu, President Ibadan indigenes in Canada, Mr Ayo Olarinde, a leader of Muslim community in Canada, Alhaji Ismail Abdulwahab among others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Ganduje who was represented by the Executive Chairman of Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Shiye described Oba Murtala as a worthy ambassador of the Yoruba in Kano State stressing that his government and the people of Kano are proud of him.

According to him, “Kaabiyesi Oba Yoruba in Kano has become a landlord in Kano State particularly in Fagge local government. I am very proud to send a government delegation to accompany him to Ibadan to receive this award. This is to show that the Yoruba has a good ambassador, who is doing his best to promote peace and harmony in Kano State.”

Meanwhile, the Kano State Governor has called on his counterpart in Oyo State, Seyi Makinde to extend the same gesture that his government is giving to Yorubas in Kano to the Hausa community residing in Oyo State so that the two States can continue to enjoy a good relationship.

Ganduje made the call when the government delegation accompanied Oba Murtala to the palace of Sarkin Hausawa in Ibadanland, Alhaji Ali Dahiru Zungeru to congratulate him on his recent enthronement as the new Hausa monarch in Ibadan.

The Chairman CDC, Ibadan East LCDA, Alhaji Odelade while speaking on the award, said the community decided to honour Oba Murtala for his immense contribution to the community morally and financially for the general development and execution of ongoing projects in their community.

Speaking in the same vein, the sole Administrator of Ibadan East LCDA, Hon. Esomior Mary Olubunmi congratulated the awardee and urged him to see the award as a catalyst that will motivate him to improve on his previous efforts to better the lots of others in the society.

Oba Murtala while speaking with Rulers’ World described the honour bestowed on him as historic; stressing that he was happy that the community could recognize him for what he did some years back.

According to him, “I am highly impressed and very happy about the award. Today is one of the good days for me; it is a historical day that I will never forget owing to the fact that I could be awarded and recognized like this in my home town.

“Having said this, I appreciate what Governor Ganduje has done. He picked the Chairman of Fagge Local Government area to lead the delegation to accompany me and honour me in Ibadan. I am impressed. From there, we went to visit the Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadan who was really happy to receive us. We equally went to the Olubadan palace and we were well received. So, today is a very good day and a happy day for me and I am happy about it. I appreciate those that honoured me with their presence and I pray that may God also honour them as well.”
