Ex-Super Eagles International, Sam Sodje is very certain that only one team has been destined to win the 2023 Nigeria Women Football League Super 6 championship and that team is Delta Queens.
The Delta State FA Board Member speaking ahead of the Group B opener between Delta Queens and Confluence Queens of Kogi maintained that it is the turn of the Delta representatives to win the league.
“Delta no dey carry last. We are hosting and we are going to win it. We are going to be good hosts to everybody but nobody is leaving with the trophy because it is going to stay here”, the Delta born former Super Eagles defender affirmed.
When reminded about the line up of teams for this year’s edition, the one time West Brom and Reading of England centre back insisted that no club can match Delta Queens at the moment.
“We won’t underrate any team, we respect all but we fear no one. We will not allow our form in the regular season get into our head either but we are very confident of our abilities and we want to finish on a high”, Sodje maintained.
Delta Queens are in Group B of the Super 6 alongside Edo Queens and Confluence Queens while Group A consists of Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels and Robo FC.
The two group winners automatically heads to the final to determine the Champion of the 2023 Nigeria Women league season.
