The former Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olafisoye Akinmoyede (a.k.a. Lafi) has joined other Nigerians to mourn the death of his former boss, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Alao-Akala died at his residence in Ogbomosho this morning (12th January 2022) at the age of 71.

Lafisoye who represented Lagelu State Constituency in the eighth Assembly said Alao-Akala’s death was painful considering the role he was playing in stabilising the All Progressives Congress (APC) at this crucial period.

He said though Akala wasn’t perfect he tried his best to uplift many people that had contact with him directly or indirectly.

Hon. Lafi, who was the Chairman of Lagelu Local Government Area between 2007 and 2011 noted that Alao-Akala”s tenure as governor during his 11-month stint when ex-governor Ladoja was impeached and between 2007 to 2011, was remarkable and full of unprecedented achievements.

He said because Alao-Akala greatly enjoyed the grace of God, he resolved to rule Oyo State with complete fear of God when he served the state as executive governor.

Olafisoye added that the late Alao-Akala was a leader who understood the political terrain in Oyo State especially in his hometown, Ogbomoso. He said his style of politics was ‘live and let’s live’, that was why he was nicknamed “Oyato”. He said.

Hon. Olafisoye, while commiserating with the people of Ogbomoso land over the death of their kinsman, enjoined them not to mourn but rather celebrate by taking solace in the fact that the former governor made them proud with the level of development the state witnessed during his tenure and many people he raised.

He thereafter Almighty to grant him eternal rest and grant his immediate family, the APC family and the state the needed fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
