African Volleyball championship: Team Nigeria in 7th place finish

Classification Game after Cameroun

Tunisia retained her number one spot in Africa by successfully defending the title she won two years ago by beating all comers to win the 2021 African Volleyball championship.

Sixteen countries, including Nigeria, took part in the competition and it was Tunisia that clinched the title by defeating Cameroon in the final.

The African Volleyball Confederation has subsequently released the final placement of teams that participated in the just-concluded championship held at the Kigali Arena, Rwanda.

Nigeria placed 7th.

After losing the first game to Tunisia, the Nigeria side bounced back to beat South Sudan and Ethiopia in the second and last group game before losing to eventual finalist, Cameroon in the quarter-final.

Nigeria was able to bounce back to beat DR Congo in the classification match to end the championship on a winning note.

The final ranking released on Tuesday evening placed Nigeria in the 7th position while Tunisia finished 1st, Cameroon 2nd and Egypt 3rd respectively.
