We’ll give match against Super Eagles our best shot ― Guinea Bissau coach, Baciro Cande

match against Super Eagles

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are in for a feisty encounter on Wednesday night as the coach of Guinea Bissau, on behalf of his team, has promised to give whatever it takes to get all three points from the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021 last group encounter in Garoua.

Speaking at a press conference on the eve of the game, the coach, who missed the game against Egypt due to a positive COVID-19 test result, insists that the 3 points at stake are their priority.

“Tomorrow’s encounter will be a decisive one for Guinea Bissau to qualify for the 2nd round. We have to fight on. The only result for us is to get the 3 points. Nigeria is a strong team, we know we are motivated for the task and by tomorrow we hope to achieve the task by winning and qualifying for the next round”, he insisted.

When reminded that he and his team are up against the group leaders and one of the toughest teams in Africa, the one time Estrela da Amadora defender in the Portuguese Segunda Liga remained adamant that his team are no pushovers.

“The Nigerian team is a strong team but we will come tomorrow to play our game. Sometimes in football you just need to believe in yourself and tomorrow we will fight for the 3 points. We must believe in our abilities to achieve our dreams”, the ex-Amora FC player insisted.

The coach who won the 1988–89 Taça Nacional da Guiné Bissau as a coach of Desportivo De Farim was however coy in his response when asked if he had already discovered some weaknesses to exploit in the Nigerian team.

“Everyone knows the Nigerian team collectively is a strong team and we will try to play our style. Every strong team has their weaknesses and that’s what we will exploit tomorrow”.

The match between Nigeria and Guinea Bissau is slated for 8 pm Nigerian time.
