Victor Ikpeba, Emmanuel Emenike, Kenneth Okonkwo, Francis Duru, others to walk for Kanu Nwankwo

As part of efforts by the Kanu Heart Foundation to celebrate this year’s World Heart’s Day, all plans have been concluded to make the event a success.

This was confirmed by the Chairman, Local Organising Committee of the event, Mo Muhammed Mustapha.

Mr Mustapha added the LOC has made all arrangements for this year’s event to surpass that of the previous year held in Lagos.

The theme for 2021 is, “Walk with Nwankwo Kanu”, and is expected to take place on the 29th of September, 2021 in the nation’s capital, Abuja.

The Kanu Heart Foundation was founded in the year 2000 by former Super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu to provide succour for those suffering from undiagnosed heart disease and provide them with surgery.

It will be recalled that the Atlanta 1996 Olympics Gold medalist and former Arsenal of England striker suffered a congenital heart defect but eventually had a successful surgery.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has earmarked 29th September every year to celebrate World Heart’s Day to increase awareness of cardiovascular diseases and how to control them to negate their global impact.

Entertainment celebrities, past and present Super Eagles players are expected to take part in the 5 to 10km walk in Abuja.

Former Nigerian Internationals, Victor Ikpeba, Emmanuel Emenike, alongside Nollywood stars, Kenneth Okonkwo, Francis Duru, Ali Nuhu, and Sani Danja are all expected to take part in the exercise.

The walking exercise is expected to start from the Police Force headquarters to Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.
