Samuel Jackson returns as Nigeria Armwrestling Federation president

Engineer Samuel Jackson has returned as the president of the Nigeria Armwrestling Federation following his re-election in a well attended elective congress supervised by the Nigeria Olympic Committee.

The Electoral and Restructuring Officer of the Elective Congress and Restructuring of the Armwrestling Federation as appointed by the Nigeria Olympic Committee was the vice-president of the Taekwondo Federation of Nigeria, Ms Tayo Popoola, who conducted the elections and coordinated the restructuring.

In the exercise conducted at the boardroom of the Nigeria Olympic Committee inside the National Stadium, Lagos, Engineer Samuel Jackson returned unopposed as president after a consensus vote.

Navy Commodore Mayowa Olukoya emerged as the new Vice-President of the federation. He was also unopposed. He replaced the former vice-president, Mrs Lade Aloba.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Kazy Sunday emerged as General Secretary. He replaced Mr Idris Ibikunle, who has relocated to the United States of America.

Mr Adebayo Salami won re-election as the Treasurer of the federation after defeating Mr Kehinde Odegbile.

Mr Dapo Sotuminu, won re-election as Director of Media, while Mr Samson Akapo was voted in as the new Assistant General Secretary unopposed. He replaced ASP Kazy Sunday who contested and won the election as the new General Secretary.

Former national team captain and one-time national women’s champion, Ms Ijeoma Soribe, was voted in as the Athlete Representative. She was unopposed.

For the post of Competitions Director, Mr Kehinde Odegbile defeated Mr Taofik Popoola to emerge the new board member in charge of competitions. Odegbile replaced the former Competitions Director, Mr Uthman Okunnu who voluntarily stepped down from the position. While Mr Femi Akinsanya retained his position as Technical Director of the federation.

Mr Fagunwa Fadele and Mrs Kemi Obidahunsi were confirmed as the Nigeria Olympic Committee Representatives on the board of the Arm Wrestling Federation.

The new board was inaugurated after the elections by Ms Tayo Popoola, on the mandate of the Olympic Committee at the boardroom of the NOC.
