The Deputy National Chairman (South) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja has rejoiced with Muslims in the state and beyond over the commencement of the month Muharram, marking the beginning of new Islamic Calendar of 1446 AH.
In a statement issued by Amb. Taofeek Arapaja but made available to newsmen through his Personal Assistant, Bamitale Ibrahim, Amb. Arapaja described the Muharram as the 1st Islamic month which shows Allah’s blessings on His creatures.
He noted that “with the commencement of another year, Muslim Ummah in Oyo state and Nigeria at large should remain steadfast in prayers and appreciate Almighty Allah in spite of all challenges confronting the country.
“Hijrah represents so many things in the lives of Muslims globally especially in the history of the lifetimes of the noble Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had to emigrate from Makkah to Madinah in 622 C.E. after he exhausted his patience with the Makkah pagans who were persecuting him.”
While praying the Almighty Allah to grant the Muslim Ummah the opportunity of this celebration many years ahead, Amb. Arapaja congratulated the Oyo State Governor Engr.
