Dr Olusegun Omolale, State Commandant of the Nigeria Legion Corps of Commissionaire in Kwara has said that the Legion is in dire need of a befitting office accommodation in the state.
Omolale said this on Tuesday in Ilorin in a statement to appraise the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration.
“For more than 50 years of existence of Nigeria Legion in Kwara, we’ve not been able to secure a befitting
accommodation.
“But we have hope because the governor has given us his word and promise, we are trusting and depending on God for that,” the Commandant said.
Omolale also said that the Legion need vehicles to enhance its operation in supporting other security agencies to bring about the proper operation in security networking.
“We need operational vehicles, and well-packaged operational vehicles with communication gadgets,” he said.
He however commended Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his assistance to the Nigeria Legion.
“Presently in Kwara, we are happy, we still enjoy certain things, but it may not be enough like Oliver Twist, we can always ask for more.
“But let me say that the governor is trying for us, and we wish that all the aspirations of the governor and his team would be
achieved by the special grace of God,” Omolale added
He described the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration as unique and very special.
“It was properly packaged, and attendance was very wonderful. We sincerely appreciate those who took the time to come and celebrate with us especially the governor and his deputy, and cabinet members.
“We give kudos to the commissioner for social development, Mrs. Deborah, for the celebration.
“We know that better days are coming. It raised the hope and courage of those who are still active and
serving officers of the armed forces.
“There is also hope for the dependents and the widows of the fallen heroes that they can be empowered.
“Economically, I know that things are not too rosy generally in Nigeria, but notwithstanding, I believe that there is hope for us,” he said
Omolale called on government at all levels to do more for the Legion; adding; “they should come closer to the military, paramilitary, and all the security agencies.
Those who paid the supreme prize, their families should be properly taken care of, and they should be encouraged in one way or the other,” the Commandant added.
