NFF Director of Director of Competitions in the Nigeria Football Federation, Ruth David was on Sunday left totally flaggerbasted as she received a surprised cake in celebration of her birthday in Asaba, Delta state, far away from her place of abode.
The football administrator had arrived the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba for the closing day matches of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super 6 Championship completely oblivious of what was awaiting her but immediately the 3rd place game between Rivers Angels and Confluence Queens came to an end, it was time to quit the subterfuge and stratagem that had been put in place all around her and time to unravel the surprise.
The mastermind, President of Ratels Sports Development Foundation (RSDF), Barrister Paul Edeh, who is also the proprietor of Naija Ratels FC of Abuja began by putting his singing skills into action, singing her a birthday song with a simultaneous presentation of a cake, a tradition of many years standing.
The soft spoken Zaria, Kaduna born Ruth David became so overwhelmed, she couldn’t hold back the tears.
‘I wasn’t expecting this, oh God, I wasn’t expecting this, she kept repeating as she thanked Barrister Edeh, also the Chairman of Honey Badgers FC of Benue, a women championship side in Nigeria for his kind gesture.
“You deserve it and even much more”, Edeh replied.
The creme de la creme of Nigerian Football Administration led by the NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi are in Asaba for the closing day matches of the Nigeria Women Football League 2023.
