The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reacted to the fire incident that gutted its Ibadan South East Local government area office yesterday saying while no life was lost only logistic materials got burnt in the incident.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Oyo State, Dr Adeniran Rahmon Tella, noting that the outbreak occurred at around 10:30am yesterday.
He added that, as at the time of issuing the statement, the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained but was assumed to be triggered by a power surge.
Dr Tella, however, assured that the logistic materials that got burnt will have no effect on the upcoming Saki/West State Constituency re-run election coming up on Saturday the 3rd of February 2024.
