The son of the Emir of Kotangora, Alhaji Bashar Saidu Namaska, has been reportedly killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits in Niger State.
It was gathered that the Emir’s son was shot dead on his father’s farm in Kontagora, the headquarters of Kontagora Local Government Area of the state.
The incident which occurred on Thursday was said to have thrown the people of the ancient town into panic and confusion.
It was further learnt that the gunmen killed the late son of the traditional ruler while working on his father’s farm on Masugu not far from Kontagora village along Zuru road.
The Emir’s late son was said to have been gunned down alongside some other people on the farm as the assailants also rustled an unspecified number of cows on the farm.
An eyewitness revealed that the gunmen stopped both commercial and private vehicles plying the road, and collected phones, money as well as other valuables from the commuters.
The incident was confirmed by a top government official in the state who pleaded anonymity.
The government official disclosed that the bandits stormed the ancient town of Kontagora and shot the Emir’s son and many others to death.
