Fans blame 3SC bench for Wikki draw, Agoye unhappy with players’ performance

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) failed to shoot down Wikki Tourists in Ibadan in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 13 and some supporters of the “Oluyole Warriors” seem to believe the bench did not rise to the demands of the game.

The match ended with no goals from either side and some of the fans, in their reactions, described the head coach of the club as “stubborn”.

Sodiq, one of such fans who expressed disappointment at the result, blamed the outcome on the delay in making changes.

“We the fans own the club, we spend our money to come to the match venue to support the club and as such, we expect a good game. Our coach is too stubborn. We need to see a good game and a good result”, Sodiq said angrily.

But 3SC head Coach, Edith Agoye would rather fault the players for not living up to expectations given the scoring chances they failed to utilise.

He said “Today, the game ended 0-0, it would have gone either way, it would have gone the way of the visiting team, they had their chances, especially in the first half, we were very lucky not to have conceded but I think in the second half we were better and we tried to create something but it was not enough.

The Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba recorded near full capacity turnout as fans thronged to see their favourite club after it served a match-behind-closed-gates sanction imposed by the League Management Company following fans clashes at Ikenne in their away game against Remo Stars.

In the match, both sides wasted several scoring chances but 3SC had the most misses, apparently undone by the pressure to impress their supporters after playing behind closed gates last Sunday against Dakkada.

But to Wikki Tourists Coach, Kabiru Dogo, their inability to score and possibly win the match was put down on ill-luck, insisting that they were the better side.

According to the former Kwara United boss: “My players played to instruction but failed to convert the chances which would have earned us the maximum three points.

“Though we are a young team, we are still building and I would not talk about our position on the log but the stability of the team is the most important thing to us.

“I believe we can still achieve more in our next games with good effort,” he said.
