Chairman Edo State Boxing Association, Albert Eromosele is over the moon as his wards of the state excelled themselves at the just concluded National Youth Games in Delta state, a convergence of sporting youths across the country representing the different states of the federation and the FCT.
After a fierce 10-day sporting battle amongst the athletes representing the 30 states that participated at the games, Edo state emerged number one in boxing as the boxers representing the state refused to take prisoners on their way to winning two gold and a bronze medal.
“They are junior champions today, they are state champions, they have now become national champions and we now know that we have even bigger tasks ahead of us because we have advertised them to the nation. Nigerians will ask about them from us tomorrow if they didn’t see them on the international scene and why not. We are going to celebrate now but quickly get back to work because we must bring out the next Isaac Ikhuoria, Albert Eromosele, Albert Jegbefumere and others from these set of junior champions”, a very elated Chairman disclosed while getting feedbacks from the festival by another Board Member, Emoefe Avwenaghagha who accompanied the boxers to Delta State as Team Lead.
“The moment I saw the boxers in training in Benin-City, I knew instantly that they were going to beat all comers at the festival”, Emoefe Avwenaghagha revealed.
Jamaldeen Habeebulahi won Gold for Edo state in the boys 46kg class while Fatiah Adedeji won Bronze in the same category for girls. Amirat Abubakar won another gold for Edo in the girls 44kg category.
