The Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court, Ikeja, Lagos, has been told how a Lord Chosen devotee, Louis Ikechukwu, allegedly defiled two minors of the same parents in a church belonging to his friend .

The officer in charge, Sgt. Aikore Odion made this revelation while being led in evidence by the state counsel, Ms A.R. Abolade before Justice Abiola Soladoye.

Sgt. Aikore said the father of the victims reported the case of defilement on December 22, 2018 at Owutu Police Station in Ikorodu.

The witness said that the nominal complainant told her that the accused, who is his very close friend and attended the same church (Lords Chosen Church), came to his house in his absence and defiled two of his daughters who are age 10 and 12 years respectively.

According to the officer, “the accused was arrested on February 8, 2019 with the help of the community and his landlord. Upon his arrest, he did not deny the allegation as he said it was the devil that came over him.
He said a woman laid a curse on him and since then, whenever the sexual urge comes, he cannot control himself. He confessed to have slept with the victims one after the other and added that he ran away to his village after the case was reported to their pastor. The accused went to the victims’ father’s house to seek forgiveness after he heard that the police was looking for him. The prosecutor narrated.

The prosecutor said according to the accused, the victims’ father was ready to forgive him but their mother refused.

While being cross-examined by the defence counsel, the witness said there was no exhibit at the time the crime was committed because she was told that they went to their pastor to settle the matter but the accused did not show up.

Justice Soladoye adjourned the case till June 21 for the continuation of trial.
