13 players now in Eagles camp, Musa others expected Monday

The Super Eagles camp came alive on Sunday with the arrival of two key players of the team; Zeidu Sanusi and Maduka Okoye, increasing the number in camp to thirteen (13).

The Nigerian team, preparing for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) are presently camped in Abuja under the tutelage of ex-international, Austin Eguavoen who was recently named the interim handler of the team.

Maduka Okoye of Sparta Rotterdam, the Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper, was the last to arrive at the team’s hotel at about 7 pm as the rest of the squad were rounding off their training which took place at the newly refurbished MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja. Zeidu Sanusi of FC Porto, who had earlier in the day reported to camp, made the team’s evening training.

Captain of the team, Ahmed Musa is reportedly already in the country but presently in his country home in Kaduna. Close sources say he is expected to depart for the Eagles camp on Monday. Frank Onyeka, who was on duty for Brentford FC in England against Aston Villa on Sunday, is also expected to join the team in the next 24 hours.

The Africa Cup of Nations begins in a week in Cameroon while the Super Eagles kick start their campaign against the Pharaohs of Egypt on 11th January.
