We will do our best in Cameroon ― Eguavoen

Interim Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavoen has affirmed the readiness of the Super Eagles to compete for the trophy at the 2021 AFCON kicking off in Cameroon in a fortnight.

“We are ready to go all the way. We have the team to do well in Cameroon but we have to take it game by game”, the Edo State born coach declared.

On what is going to be the biggest challenge before the team, the ex-international revealed that time is a factor that is not totally on their side.

“Expectations. I have been having sleepless nights since my appointment because Nigerians have high expectations of the team. Time as a factor is not on our side. We will not be able to play friendlies and that is a great challenge because friendlies is where you put what you do in training to practice and see how they react to it. All in all, we will do our best”, Eguavoen concluded positively.

The Tunisia ’94 and USA ’94 player also hinted that the Super Eagles is likely to go back to it’s traditional wing play system citing the presence of Samuel  Chukwueze, Moses Simeon and others in the team.

Nigeria is in the same group with Egypt, Sudan and Guinea Bissau in the AFCON 2021 tournament holding in Cameroun.
