The Oyo State Commandant Vigilante Group of Nigeria ( VGN), Comrade Sunday Olajide (JP) has advised the Government of Oyo State to recognize his group and engage its services in the fight against crime and criminality across the state.
Olajide stated this while addressing newsmen at a security summit, awards and fund raising programme organised by his group on Wednesday 28th December, 2022 at the State Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan ,Oyo State.
He stated that insecurity will be reduced drastically if government engage and support the VGN in the fight against insecurity.
Commandant Olajide noted that the group would be of help to the state in its quest to combat crime and criminal activities because its personnel understand the terrain of the state much more better than other security agencies.
” One thing that sets VGN apart from the other security apparatus in Nigeria is our grassroots base and the understanding of the locals.
We are also respectable professionals and our community knowledge makes it easier for us when it comes to crime fighting job.
The Vigilante Group of Nigeria ( VGN) is never transferred from one place to another like it occurs in the Nigerian police; we stay for as long as we wanted in our community and this gives us an edge when we talk of community policing than the men of the Nigerian police.’ he concluded.
During the event, the South West commandant, Olusoji Sodiya described comrade Sunday Olajide as a worthy father in Yorubaland and a patriotic Nigerian whose dedication to humanity is worthy of emulation.
In his remarks, the traditional ruler in attendance, Oba Nureni Yusuf, the Alajia of Ajia commended the activities of Oyo state command of Vigilante Group of Nigeria ( VGN) in community policing.
