A tragic incident has occurred in Ilorin, Kwara State, where a fridge repairer, Yunusa Abdullateef, allegedly committed suicide after stealing a motorcycle in the Ita Ogunbo area.
According to reports, Abdullateef was overwhelmed by shame and the fear of social stigma after his theft was discovered, leading him to take his own life.
A resident, Mr. Abdul, revealed that the community launched a manhunt for Abdullateef after the theft, and he was eventually caught. However, the shame and embarrassment proved too much for him to bear, leading to his tragic decision.
The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, confirmed the incident, stating that Abdullateef’s body was found in his room, and he had been buried according to Islamic rites.
This sad event serves as a reminder of the importance of seeking help and support in times of crisis, rather than resorting to drastic measures.
