Tension in Osogbo as hoodlums beat commercial motorcyclists for waving at Tinubu

There was tension in Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun, as commercial motorcyclists (Okada riders) at Aregbe junction were beaten by political hoodlum for waving at the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during his visit on Thursday.

It would be recalled that the APC candidate was at Osogbo on Thursday for his campaign.

The APC campaign train moves from the Ileri Oluwa campaign office located around Gbongan/Ibadan road and passed through Aregbe/Olaiya area to Freedom Park, Old Garage, where the event took place.

It was gathered that some of the commercial motorcyclists who were at the garage when Tinubu’s campaign train got to the area, wave at him while some (Jagaban).

The development, reporters gathered infuriated some political hoodlums who were at the Aregbe, leading them to chase the motorcyclist away.

However, the motorcyclists who thought the issue has been forgotten, resumed their normal duty this morning to their park but were met with disappointment as they were beaten and chased away.

A source told the medium that all the commercial motorcyclists who attempted to carry passengers in the area were beaten with a cane, causing a lot of tension in the area.

Speaking with the medium, one of the victims who do not want his name in print for the fear of another attack said he had to abandon his motorcycle and run away.

“I got to the garage this morning as usual and packed my okada waiting for customers. It was not up to a minute that I packed when some people with canes came out of Aregbe’s garage and started beating us.

“They said we waved to Tinubu during his visit to Osogbo yesterday and that they won’t allow us to stay in our usual place again”.

It was reliably gathered that efforts are ongoing to see the leadership of the transport union to resolve the issue.
