Benue under attackFour die as gunmen attack mourners in Benue

Some suspected Fulani herdsmen have attacked Shikaan Mbagena Kpav, a TIV community in Benue State, killing at least 36 residents including students of the College of Education in the Katsina-Ala area of the state.

It was gathered that the suspected Fulani herdsmen stormed the community in the early hours of Thursday, and carried out the attack.

The unfortunate massacre has generated varying reactions among Nigerians on social media who condemned the ongoing silent “genocide” under the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

However, there are conflicting figures of casualties as some believed the assailants might have killed up to 100 Benue residents.

Nigerians on Twitter are currently retweeting a hashtag, #BenueUnderAttack, and lamenting the incompetence of the Federal Government and security agencies to address the situation of the killer herdsmen.

#BenueUnderAttack is one of the most trending topics on Twitter, with over 100,000 tweets, as at the time of filing this report.
