Kwara State Old Motors Spare parts Dealers Association, Ipata-Oloje, Ilorin has closed the market for two days to mourn their member, Abdullahi who was allegedly killed by thugs at Oko-Olowo area of Ilorin on Friday.

22 year old Abdullahi Salman, a spare parts dealer was gruesomely murdered by a hoodlum identified as Azeez aka ‘Olongbo’ in his house under construction at Oko-Olowo area after refusing to give him money which he demanded.

The victim was reportedly met by the hoodlums led by Olongbo who demanded money and shot him dead when he refused to acceed to his request.

As a result of the murder, youth members of the spare parts dealers Association protested the killing, set bonfire on Oja-Oba/Oloje/Oko-Olowo road and prevented free flow of traffic on the road leading to Igbeti- Shaki in Oyo state.

The state Old Spare parts dealers association in a statement jointly signed by Gidado Ahmed and Gani Elemosho, Secretary and Treasurer respectively said that it had ordered the closure of the market for two days for peace to reign in the state capital.

It urged all the members of the market to stay at home on Saturday and Sunday in order to allow peace at the market adding that all shops and stalls in the market should remain closed and would not be opened till Monday.

The association said that it mourned Abdullahi Salman and prayed to God to give the family of late member the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

It also appealed to all the youth Oloje area to give room for peace to reign in the area.

Police Public Relations Officer PPRO in Kwara state Command, Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident saying that Police was yet to know the cause of the death of the person that was killed.

Okasanmi said that the Police had restored peace in the area adding that the state Police Commissioner had ordered a full scale investigation into the incident.

“Full-Scale investigation into the matter has been ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Cp Tuesday Assayomo. Detailed investigation report would be made available to members of the public as soon as it is ready.

“Meanwhile, members of the public, especially residents of the affected areas are advised to be cautious as they go about their lawful businesses, and should report any untoward activities in their area to the police as sanity is gradually returning to the areas.
