Sabina Chikere Pumps Edo Queens Ahead Confluence Queens Cracker

The Permanent Secretary of Sports, Edo state Sports Commission, Sabina Chikere on Tuesday boosted the morale of the state’s representative at this year’s Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super 6 when she led a high powered Government delegation to the team’s camp in Asaba, Delta State ahead of the crunchy test versus Confluence Queens of Kogi.

Edo Queens, the pride of the state and the only team in Nigeria that enjoys the privilege of receiving the same wages as their male gender counterparts, are presently pursuing a top place finish in the Nigeria Women Football League season 2023 and they kick start their quest with a tricky tie against Confluence Queens on Wednesday afternoon at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

“We have had to endure being tagged the “nearly there” team. It’s been painful missing out on every occasion we could have arrived at the final destination but we are undaunted. We are resolute. That we are back here again is a testimony about our doggedness and our resolve, I congratulate you girls”, Sabina Chikere saluted the Queens.

“This is our year and we are not going back without the trophy. The government has 100 percent believe in you and it is now your turn to shine”, Sabina added as other high ranking officials in the Edo State Sports Commission took turn to address the players on the eve of the encounter.

Confluence Queens lost their first group game to Delta Queens 1-3 on Tuesday and another loss to Edo Queens on Wednesday will automatically rule the Kogi based side out of the championship.
