Ronaldo winner as Man U defeats Atalanta in UCL

Man U defeats Atalanta

Man United made a sensational comeback Wednesday night as they stormed to a 3-2 victory over Atalanta after going down 0-2 at halftime.

United’s awful run of form continued after the international break at the weekend, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side suffering a 4-2 defeat against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, and the Reds looked poor again in the first half against Atalanta.

The Italians took advantage of United’s slow start by taking the lead through Pasalic’s strike and it didn’t take long for them to double their lead.

Atalanta scored from a corner just before the 30th minute and United trailed by two goals at the break.

Old Trafford was bemused as the teams left the pitch, but the terraces would soon burst back into life.

Marcus Rashford got United back into the game in the second half then Harry Maguire levelled the score and what happened next, with United searching for a winner on a European night under the floodlights, could have been considered inevitable.

Ronaldo, as he so often does, did the damage with his head, powering an emphatic effort past Atalanta goalkeeper Juan Musso, before wheeling away to celebrate with the jubilant United fans and his team-mates.

It was the Portugal international’s third goal in the Champions League this season and his sixth since returning to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
