Remo Stars vs Shooting Stars: We’ll approach match with winning mentality — Anietie Uko

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan midfielder, Anietie Uko has said the Oluyole Warriors will confront Remo Stars in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) encounter with a winning mentality.

The Ibadan soccer lords, will lock horns with their South-West neighbours in a matchday eleven fixture, billed to hold at the Remo Stars Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the South-West derby, the former Vandrezzzer FC midfielder, who had an outstanding performance in Shooting Stars’ 4-0 whitewash of Heartland last Wednesday, declared that his team would approach the game with the aim of continuing with the recently discovered form.

“It is a good thing we are having a good run. Winning three from three shows that we are back to winning ways and it is with that winning mentality that we will be facing Remo Stars”, said Uko.

Remo Stars have been in top form since the beginning of the season, which has seen the coach Gbenga Ogunbote tutored side remain unbeaten in ten matches.

A statement by the Media Officer of 3SC, Tosin Omojola say an interesting tie is in the offing, going by the intimidating form of Remo Stars, the winning run of 3SC and the rivalry between both sides

“The last time both sides met was during the final of the 2022 Ogunjobi Gold Cup pre-season tournament played in Ikenne, in which Remo Stars won 4-0.

“Before that, the Oluyole Warriors had triumphed over Remo Stars in a semi-final match of the third edition of the Prince Dapo Abiodun pre-season tournament, held at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.

“It, therefore, promises to be a battle for supremacy when they take to the pitch on Sunday”, the statement read in part.

Remo Stars have failed to win twice on their home ground this season, having been held by Nassarawa United and Rivers United, with both leaving Ikenne with a point each.

The implication of this is that a positive result is possible for the Oluyole Warriors in this clash, moreso as the Edith Agoye tutored lads are enjoying a good run.
