Rainstorm Victims in Kwara Call for Help

 

Residents of Igbonna Community in Oyun Local government area of Kwara State have called on the Kwara State government, good spirited individuals and organizations in the state to come to their aid as a heavy rainstorm devastated several buildings in the community.

The incident, it was gathered occurred on April 11, 2024, and affected 35 houses in the community.

The National President of the Igbonna Descendants Development Union, IDPU, Barr. A S Salami, while speaking after an on-the-spot assessment of the devastation as the victims count their losses in the community following the havoc caused by the rainstorms, during which rooftops of several houses were blown off, the National President of the Igbonna Descendants Development Union, IDPU, Barr. A S Salami, described the occurrence as highly devastating.

He said, “the experience is worrisome. Few houses, if any, were left untouched by the storms from the heavy rain. Some houses were completely blown off, while a good number of our people’s houses were either brought down or badly damaged.”

Barr. Salami further said, “The incident is unprecedented in history as stock of the disaster is so great to the extent that most of our people are in confusion and will hardly find where to sleep.”

As we speak, the economic and normal lifestyle of the entire community have been grounded, as the vulnerable victims of the disaster are at a loss as to what to do or where to put their heads for safety.

In view of this, members of the community are calling on the government and good spirited individuals and organizations to promptly come to the aid of the  victims.
