Aspirants and party leaders in the Ibadan South-West constituency 1 and 2 of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have finally resolved to conduct primaries to pick candidates ahead of the 2023 general elections
This resolution was arrived at after intensive deliberation held at the Molete residence of the former generalissimo of Ibadan politics, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu.
Rulers’ World gathered that the party leaders present at the meeting were the Alhaja Bose Adedibu who is the South West Women Leader of the party, Senator Kamorudeen Adedibu, Morufu Olumide Balogun, Paul Oni, Wale Afolabi, Alhaji Ado, Tajudeen Adigun (Atu), Tajudeen Aleshinloye, Pastor Popoola, Pastor Tibonyin, Tajudeen Adeladan.
Also, the aspirants present at the meeting included the two incumbent state lawmakers, Femi Fowokanmi and Yusuf Adebisi while Babatunde Ige, Samson Opeyemi Fatola, Kazeem Alarape, Isola Adekunle Baruwa, Emmanuel Olorunfemi, Gbenga Elebolo, Hon. Sossy and Ramoni were also present.
It was gathered that after an intensive arguments and plea made by the leaders to other aspirants to step down for the two incumbents, hinging their stance on the purported ‘directives’ from Governor Seyi Makinde, the aspirants were not convinced but rather stood their ground that it was primary election they wanted to pick candidates for the Ibadan South West constituency 1 and 2 State Assembly election.
It would be recalled that there had been series of protests by some party faithful following the alleged imposition of the two incumbent lawmakers by the leaders of the party in Ibadan South West Local Government on other aspirants who maintained that the party would lose the election if it imposed candidates on them.
