The Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, over claims in an investigative report (Pandora Papers), alleging him of siphoning public funds while in office.
Obi, confirmed the invitation in a statement.
He said: “I have been invited by EFCC to come and defend myself on Pandora papers.
“I encourage the EFCC to make the investigation public so that public will witness the investigation.
“I will educate EFCC to know that the way I spend my money is totally my choice.
“I was rich before I became the governor of Anambra State and did not divert money belonging to the State.”
Obi, is therefore expected to appear at the anti-graft agency’s headquarters, in Abuja, for questioning on 27th October.
