Nigerian player becomes first African scorer in Europa Conference League

Ezekiel Henty of Nigeria Thursday night, became the first player from Africa to score in the newly introduced Europa Conference League.

The Europa Conference League is the third European competition created by UEFA and it just started this season.

The conference league is played just like the Europa League on Thursdays and an African, from Nigeria, made history by scoring in the Group F cracker between Slovan Bratislava and FC Copenhagen.

Ezekiel Isoken Henty scored for his team Slovan Bratislava in the 21st minute, equalising for his Slovak team before they led 2-1 at half-time.

The 28-year-old therefore became the first African to score in the UEFA Conference League.

A product of Flying Sports Academy, Henty put pen to paper in 2020 for a four-and-a-half-year contract, keeping him at Slovan Bratislava until June 30, 2024.

The Nigerian striker had previously played at AC Milan of Italy and Locomotiv Moscow of Russia.
