The immediate past Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige has been honoured with the ‘Most Dependable Politician of the Year 2023’ Award by the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC).
Hon. Akeem Ige who is also the Baameto Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland was honoured with the award at the opening of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) National Coordinating Council (NCC) meeting hosted by the Oyo State chapter of the group at Mapo hall, Ibadan on Wednesday 29th November, 2023.
The NCC dependable Politician of the Year 2023 award was bestowed on Honourable Akeem Ige in recognition of his being dependable, resilient, consistent, ruggedness and one of influential politicians not only in Oyo State but in Nigeria as a whole.
The award was presented to him by the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams assisted by other dignitaries that attended the ceremony at Mapo hall, Ibadan.
While presenting the award, Iba Gani Adams disclosed that Hon. Ige’s choice for the award was based on his past contributions to nipping in the bud the issue of insecurity in the state, adding that he appointed 100 personnels who were purely OPC members to provide security in and around the Ibadan South East Local Government area where he served as the council Chairman almost 18 years ago.
He further recalled that during his tenure as council Chaieman, Hon. Ige equally constructed some police stations and always given moral, financial and logistic supports to the congress from time to time.
Others that were honoured alongside Hon. Ige were the state coordinator of OPC, Dr. Raifu Abiola, Deputy Commandant of Amotekun security outfit in Oyo State, Comrade Akinro, property developer, Alhaji Monsuru Amubieya and Comrade Tirimisiyu Olowoposi.
