Oyo State governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has said that the people of Oyo State have lost the most liberal and experienced politician the state has ever produced in the person of the former governor Otunba Alao-Akala who died yesterday (Wednesday).
Governor Makinde made the statement today (Thursday) during a condolence visit he paid to the family of the late Otunba Alao-Akala at his home town in Ogbomosho.
Makinde remarked that the late former governor was an apostle of politics without bitterness, adding that his passing is a great loss to the entire people of Oyo State and not his family alone.
He stressed further that he and the late politician might not be in the same political party but in terms of love for the state he did his best as a former governor.
He prayed to God to uphold and give the family he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
In his remark during the visit, late Alao-Akala’s former Chief of Staff, Chief Saka Balogun described the former governor as a kind-hearted man who impacted the lives of many through his special style of welfare.
Chairman of Oyo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro who was in the entourage of the governor equally referred to the late politician as a good leader, stressing that he represented the face of humanity in politics.
Responding on behalf of the family, Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala commended Governor Makinde for the visit.
Also in the entourage of the governor were the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, Chairman Governor’s Advisory Council, Senator Hosiah Agboola, members of the state executive council, local government Chairmen, among others.
