Amid fun and pageantry, the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has inaugurated the newly sworn-in executive members of the Park Management System (PMS) in Oyo State with a warning that they might be held accountable for any breakdown of law and order in the state henceforth.
Governor Seyi Makinde stated this shortly after the Oath of office and allegiance were administered on all the newly appointed members of Executives of the PMS which was performed by the representative of the Commissioner of Justice in Oyo State, Barrister Abiodun Aikomo at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan today.
Governor Makinde, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters in the state, Hon. Segun Olayiwola, stated that his administration will not tolerate any breach of peace in any park in the State.
He charged the PMS executives to be proactive in identifying and addressing potential issues that could lead to violence or actions capable of undermining the peaceful atmosphere in any part of the State.
Governor Makinde who assured them of his administration’s support in carrying out their duties, stressed that the government will not hesitate to hold the PMS leadership responsible for breakdown of law and order caused through the activities of their members.
The commissioner added that all the executive members would sign undertakings with the government and security agencies in ensuring that all their activities would be violence- free.
In his remarks, the chairman of the PMS, Alhaji (Ambassador) Wasiu Tomiwa Omolewa, pledged that all members of his executives would abide by the law and order guiding the operation of PMS in the state.
Omolewa who promised that his team would work to ensure that sanity returns to all motor parks across the state, stressed that peace and harmony being enjoyed by all residents in the state under the Governor Seyi Makinde led administration is sustained.
According to him, “henceforth, it has become an offence for any member of PMS to drink alcohol, smoke a cigarette or engage in any illegal activities in all the various parks in the State.”
He thanked the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde for the confidence he reposed in all the leadership of the PMS in the State and other members of the State Executive Council. He extended his appreciation to the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Mahood Lekan Balogun, Governor Makinde’s ally, Otunba (Balogun) Seye Famojuro, all the traditional rulers, Ibadan Mogajis, Babaloja General of Oyo State, Alhaji Y.K. Abass, Iyalojas, local government Chairmen, representatives of the Hausa in Sabo and Sasa, representatives of the Police, DSS, Civil Defense, OYRTMA and other dignitaries that attended the ceremony.
In their goodwill messages, the representative of the ALGON Chairman, Alhaji Rahman Adepoju, Oba Hamidu Ajibade, Alhaji Y.K. Abass and others lauded the new leaders of PMS under Tomiwa for their resilience in ensuring that normalcy is restored back to the transport sector in the State with a charge in sustaining the peace in the State.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Governor Seyi Makinde’s ally, Otunba Seye Famojuro, Director-General, Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Barrister Ayodele Adekanmbi, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ramota Agberemi Dabo, Hon Babatunde Tijani, PDP chieftains, Traditional rulers among others.
