The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board , Hon Akeem Ademola Ige has applauded His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for being pensioners’ friendly.
Hon Akeem Ademola Ige stated this while featuring on a Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State ( BCOS) television current affairs live programme tagged “KUTUHAI” early this morning.
The Chairman while fielding questions from the presenters of the programme, highlighted some of the achievements of Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde led government for the past five years in respect of welfare of pensioners and activities of the Board. He noted that retired primary school teachers and local government retirees have never had it so good until the present administration came on board.
He further stated that Thirty six billion naira was inherited as gratuity and other retiring benefits from previous administrations while over Seventeen billion naira has been paid. He emphasized that One billion naira has been paid to pensioners that retired during Governor Seyi Makinde’s regime.
He said ” Our amiable and people’s governor has been putting smiles on the faces of senior citizens since assumption of office in May 2019 and has never failed. He is paying monthly pension on the 25th of every month, fifteen thousand wage award to pensioners, ten thousand Christmas bonus , inclusion of pensioners in the Health Insurance Scheme ( OYSHIA), reinstatement and payment of accrued of pension arrears to pensioners that missed ” I AM ALIVE SCREENING” exercises from 1994 till date and many more.
However, the Chairman explained that the vision of the Board for omituntun 2.0 is to improve on the service delivery to pensioners, introduction of ICT to the quarterly verification ” i AM ALIVE SCREENING” of Pensioners, conduct of monthly counseling, awareness and interactive engagement with pensioners, fashioning strategies to pay all outstanding inherited and unpaid retirement benefits to pensioners before the end of omituntun 2.0 .
The Chairman was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina, Nigeria Union of Pensioners Executives Comrades Ayodabo Joel Kolawole State Trustee2, Dosu Akinpelu, Chairman Retired Public Primary School Teachers Wing, Dr James Taiwo Ayanlowo Chairman Local Government retirees Wing, Tunji Ogunwale NUP Secretary Teachers Wing, management of the Local Government Staff Pension Board and the immediate past Supervisory Councilor for Health in Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Iyiola Mutairu.
