LG Poll: OYSIEC suspends election in Ido, conducts Sunday

OYSIEC shifts Ido election, OYSIEC suspends Iddo election

Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has suspended election in the Iddo Local Government Area of the state following the omission of the Zenith Labor Party (ZLP) logo on the ballot paper.

Speaking with newsmen on Saturday at the Commission’s headquarter in Ibadan, the OYSIEC chairman, Aare Isiaka Olagunju, stated that the omission was a mistake on the part of the electoral umpire despite efforts put in place at ensuring free, fair, and credible poll.

He said, “An information reaching us now is not palatable. I was notified that the ZLP logo is missing on the ballot paper and we take full responsibility for the mistake. It was not intentional, ZLP is contesting in just one local government out of the 33 local government areas in the state which is Ido Local Government Area

“It will be wrong if the logo of a party is missing in the ballot paper and we still continue the election, that is why we decided to suspend the election in the local government.”

Olagunju reiterated OYSIEC’s commitment to a free, fair, and credible election, adding that the Commission will be unbiased in the discharge of its duty.

He, however, added that the commission has decided to conduct the election on Sunday between 8.00 am and 3.00 pm.
