KWSG Flags Off Distribution of 3000 PPE to Livestock Farmers, Value Chain Operators of L-PRES Project

 

The Kwara State Government has flagged-off the distribution of 3,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to livestock farmers and value chain operators in the State.

The programme, which was held at the State Ministry of Agriculture Headquarters in Ilorin, had in attendance the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief (Mrs.) Afolashade Oluwakemi, Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Jiddah, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Alh. Okanlawon Olarewaju Musa, Representative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Maiyaki Madu, Livestock Farmers, Butchers Association, and other livestock operators.

Flagging off the event, the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said the programme is part of government deliberate efforts to enhance the safety of livestock farmers, protect the health of value chain operators from zoonotic disease, and improve livestock business in the State.

The Governor, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Jiddah affirmed that the programme was made possible due to the prompt payment of the state counterpart funds for the project and the Governor’s purposeful leadership style, which has been helping in attracting developmental projects to the state.

Mallam AbdulRazaq assured the livestock farmers of his administration’s commitment to further improve the sector and the wellbeing of the people in livestock business in the state.

On her part, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief (Mrs.) Afolashade Oluwakemi admonished the beneficiaries to judiciously use the items, and guide against any acts that may derail the government genuine intention.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of Butchers Association, Alhaji Salihu Dangote, who appreciated the governor for deeming it fit to recognise the livestock sector contributions to the development of the state, noted that the items would further enhance their efficiency in the business.

Earlier, the State Project Coordinator, Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye said the event is a demonstration of the commitment of the governor to the wellbeing of the populace, adding that the distribution of PPE would ensure the safety of the livestock farmers, butchers, meat processors, and other livestock value chain operators in their daily activities.

The Coordinator, who appreciated the Governor for his support to the L-PRES activities towards the development of the livestock sector, assured that the state project coordination office would spare no effort at ensuring efficient implementation and timely delivery of the L-PRES projects in the state.
