The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the former governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha.
According to a report by Premium Times, Okorocha was arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at about 4 P.M. Tuesday at his Unity House private office in Abuja.
The report gathered that the former governor was arrested after a five-hour standoff with EFCC operatives who trailed him to the location.
Meanwhile, it was said that the anti-graft agency had repeatedly invited the former governor to its Abuja headquarters in connection with some corruption allegations that were levelled against him; which he refused to honour.
Okorocha’s spokesperson, Sam Onwuemeodo, was, therefore, incommunicado as at the time of filing this report.
The EFCC’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, has, however, confirmed the former governor is in his agency’s custody.
