The African MiniFootball Championship (AMC), its second edition, produced a fierce semi-final showpiece as two West African nations squared up with their North African counterparts for a spot in the final with the spectators witnessing a thriller at Ilaji Sports Resort Ibadan, the venue of the competition.

The first semi-final went into overdrive as Ghana, conquerors of Nigeria, held their own against Libya till full-time, ended 2-2 apiece. The game then went into a penalty shoot-out and Libya easily triumphed by 2-0.

The second semi-final looked an easy ride for Egypt as they won by 3-1 against African MiniFootball Championship (AMC) defending champions, Coted’Ivoire but the scoreline, it must be stressed, was not a true reflection of the game as the Ivorians lost chances after chances while the Egyptians were very clinical in front of goal.

The third-place match will now be contested by Ghana and Coted’Ivoire while Egypt will hope to become the next champion after dethroning the former as they face their fellow Arab nation, Libya, the host of the inaugural edition in the final.
