Gunmen, in the early hours of Friday, killed the wife of Peter Odetomi, a former commissioner in Oyo State, Mrs Olayemi Odetomi, after invading her residence.
It was gathered that the wife of the ex-commissioner was killed at her residence in Ashi, Bodija, Ibadan, the state capital.
Osifeso said that the deceased, aged 66, died immediately after being shot.
Odetomi was the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and later the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development during the administration of Abiola Ajimobi.
Odetomi was also the former Chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area.
Speaking on the incident on Friday, a resident of Ashi disclosed that the unknown gunmen stormed the area on a motorbike.
“It is true. I saw people rushing to our area now. Someone called my attention to it a few minutes ago. It happened around 10 am on Friday. I heard they came on a motorcycle,” the resident disclosed.
The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident.
“Updates on Investigations would be provided in due course,” he said.
